Frequently Asked Questions
Thinking of joining us? Here are clear answers to some of the questions people ask most often.
Who can join Sandra Cross Choir?
SCC is an adults-only choir. You are welcome whether you have sung in a choir before or are trying group singing for the first time.
Do I need to audition?
No. There are no auditions and no pressure to arrive as a confident singer. SCC is a place to develop your voice and confidence one song at a time.
Do I need to read music?
No. Songs are taught by listening and repeating, supported by lyric sheets. Your voice becomes part of the group sound as you learn together.
What kind of music will we sing?
The choir explores Sandra Cross’s original songs, arranged for group voices and rich harmony. It is also a space to enjoy music, expression and shared creativity.
Can I try the choir before joining?
Yes. You can request a free taster session. You may take part in the warm-ups and song learning, or simply watch at first—it is entirely up to you, with no pressure to join.
Where and when are rehearsals?
Rehearsals are currently in South London. The venue and date of the next available session will be confirmed when you enquire, so you always receive the latest details.
How much does membership cost?
- Weekly: £10 per week
- Monthly: £30 per month, offering a lower overall cost than weekly payments
- Concession: £20 per month for eligible members
Every option includes weekly SCC rehearsals, learning resources, access to the Members’ Community, musical support and opportunities to take part in choir activities and performances.
Who may apply for the concession rate?
Concessions may be available to people on a low income or qualifying benefits, carers, disabled people, full-time students and people above State Pension age. Current evidence may be requested. Where a document contains unrelated account numbers or financial details, you may cover them before sending it.
What is the Members’ Community?
It is the online space for choir members to access updates, shared resources and the SCC community. Existing members can open the Members’ Community login.
What if I have an accessibility or safeguarding question?
Please contact us before attending so we can discuss any support you may need. You can also read the choir’s Safeguarding information.
